Fire Commissioners
The five-member Board of Fire Commissioners governs this special taxing district and is elected by voters residing within District boundaries.
At monthly meetings, Fire Commissioners set policy, approve the annual budget, levy taxes and provide direction and guidance to staff. Regular meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 1885 Veterans Park Drive in North Naples and the public is encouraged to attend.
J. Christopher Lombardo
Mr. Lombardo has served on the North Naples Fire Control and Rescue District Board of Fire Commissioners for ten years, the last five as Chairman.
A partner with Woodward, Pires & Lombardo, P.A., Fire Commissioner Lombardo has been a Naples civil trial attorney for over 25 years. He served Everglades City as City Attorney for 20 years.
Chairman Lombardo has been a supporter of the Naples community in many capacities. He served on the Friends of Collier County Museum board for eight years, five as chair, `overseeing a $2,500,000 capital campaign to expand the museum. An Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), Lombardo presently serves as Scoutmaster of Troop 2001, advisor of Venture Crew 2001, as well as an advisor for the Statewide Order of the Arrow. In his youth, he served as a High Adventure Ranger for the BSA National High Adventure Programs. Presently he is the District Chairman of Scouting for Collier County.
Mr. Lombardo has also provided his service as an auctioneer for a variety of charitable organizations, including Naples Art Association, Bonita Springs Art Association, Bonita Springs Rotary, North Naples Rotary, North Naples Optimists Club, the American Cancer Society, the Cancer Association of Naples, the American Heart Association, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Community School of Naples, the Friends of the Collier County Museum, the Friends of the Marco Island Charter School, the Friends of the Marco Island Library, the Friends of the Everglades Museum. His efforts have resulted in over $3,000,000 of raised funds for local charities.
In the past, Mr. Lombardo served the Florida Bar as a member of the Board of Governors and as Chair of the 1999 Annual Meeting; the Chair of the Gender Bias Commission; the Chair of the Equal Opportunity Commission; a Governor of the Young Lawyers Board of Governors; Chair of the 20th Judicial Circuit Fee Arbitration Committee and served on the Special Committee to study the Florida Constitution Amendment process.
Vice Chairman Commissioner Margaret A. Hanson
Five years after completing the Community Emergency Response Teams (C.E.R.T.) program, for which she since has raised funds, Fire Commissioner Hanson serves the Collier County community in many capacities. She was most recently the President of the 1,000-member Pelican Bay Women's League for two years. She also served on an Advisory Board of the Pelican Bay Year-Rounders Group. Hanson was a past President of the University Of Michigan Alumni Club of Southwest Florida and served on their Board for 20 years.
Vice Chairman Hanson served organizations while in Michigan such as the National Automobile Dealer's Association (with her Late Husband), the Cancer Crusade, March of Dimes and the Historical Society Board, Hospital Auxiliary, Women's Club, and was President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce Auxiliary. Hanson is a currently a member of the Women's Republican Club and the Republican Club of Naples.
Committed to education, Hanson helped establish the Florida Gulf Coast University Renaissance Academy in Naples, served on the National Women's Board of Northwood University, is a founding member of the Ave Maria University, and served on the Board of Education in Michigan.
Educated at University of Michigan and Western Michigan University, Hanson was chosen as one of six to represent Collier County in Service Leadership Florida. She recently became a mentor to a Barron Collier Student in the "Take Stock in Children program" run by the Education Foundation of Collier County.
Fire Commissioner Paul J. Moriarty, Sr.
Following a long career with the North Naples Fire and Rescue District, Fire Commissioner Paul J. Moriarty, Sr. was elected commissioner on November 2nd, 2004. He was elected as treasurer in November 2004, a position he still holds.
Moriarty, Sr. joined the North Naples Fire and Rescue District as a volunteer fireman in 1975 and served in that capacity for five years, after which he spent the next 24 years as firefighter, engineer, lieutenant, captain, acting battalion chief, logistics officer. Moriarty, Sr. retired on August 31, 2004.
He received his education from Worcester Jr. College where he received his AE degree, attended Northeastern University, took Fire Science Courses at St. Petersburg Jr. College, and took Leadership and Management Courses through the National Fire Academy.
A resident of North Naples since 1974, Fire Commissioner is a married father of six and a grandfather of twelve.

Fire Commissioner Jim Burke
Jim Burke has been, for the past eight years, an active and involved public servant within Pelican Bay, North Naples and Collier County. He has served in leadership positions on the Pelican Bay Services Division Board of Directors, as well as the Collier County Coastal Advisory Committee. In addition, Mr. Burke is a founding member and Secretary-Treasurer of the Citizens Transportation Coalition of Collier County. He is an active participant in the Collier County Commission District 2 Advisory Committee. For the past three years Mr. Burke has immersed himself in the workings of the North Naples Fire Control and Rescue District as well as that of the Fire Service Steering Committee. What he has observed, and learned, caused him to seek election to the NNFD Board of Commissioners.
Mr. Burke is an active volunteer with Collier Harvest and uses his St. William Knights of Columbus membership to help raise money for various Collier County charitable organizations. He is a native of upstate New York, having graduated from LeMoyne College, Syracuse, NY with a B.S. in Industrial Relations. Following a career with Proctor & Gamble, Holiday Inns Hotel Co. and Promus Hotel Co., he retired to Naples.
Widowed, the father of five and grandfather of ten, Mr. Burke spends his time in public service and his leisure with his grandchildren.
