Special Ops

The North Naples Fire Control and Rescue District includes four Special Operations Sections - Boat Operations, Dive Team, Technical Rescue Team and Hazardous Materials Team.

Deputy Chief Michael Swanson is responsible for managing and deploying the Special Ops teams for rescue and recovery efforts.

This group includes 16 Boat Operators who are available to assist in water rescue operations. The District has 4 boats: a 36-foot Twin-Vee, a 22-foot Twin Vee open hull boat and 2 17-foot inflatable rescue boats.

Dive Team

Our Dive Rescue Team includes 27 members who respond to all situations involving water rescue, including vehicles in canals, drownings, and recovery of evidence for the Collier County Sheriff's Office. All Dive Team members are Dive Rescue I certified; three are Public Safety Scuba Instructors.

Technical Rescue Team

Our 34-member Technical Rescue Response Team is trained for confined space, structural collapse, trench collapse and high-angle rescue operations. Members of this team have training beyond firefighting to understand structural anomalies at disaster scenes.

Hazardous Materials Team

Our Haz-Mat Team includes 36 members who are continuously training for incidents, including chemical spills, leaks and radiological emergencies. All firefighters with the North Naples Fire District receive training in dealing with terrorism-related issues and biochemical weapons. This team is also a State of Florida Hazmat Response Team.
